Downloading torrents is often associated with piracy and illegal distribution of licensed videos, music, software, etc. However, torrents are simply based on decentralized networks where you download files from other people's computers. That being said, there are plenty of free and legal files that can be downloaded using torrents. Let's check out how to access torrents using your Android phone.
μTorrent is a free torrent client and it's available for Android as a free application. The app manages to convey the core idea behind μTorrent: small size and simplicity. After the installation, you are ready to go. There is a search button within the app that simply opens up a browser tab searching for a torrent related to your query. More important is the ability to open downloaded .torrent files with the app or to click magnet links that redirect to μTorrent immediately. The app covers that part perfectly and it's probably everything you'll ever need.
The app includes an audio and video player for downloaded files but they are quite limited and you probably won't open them at all. Another useful option is the BitTorrent Remote. It lets you control the BitTorrent client on your computer but only if your phone and your computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
There is also a Pro version available for $2.99 that disables ads and provides features like Battery Saver and Auto-Shutdown. There aren't as many options as in the PC client but the important thing is you can set upload and download limits.
